It is my custom to refrain from commenting on the films that are not to my liking because it is not fair for the product to the jargon that is not only because it appeals to you, however, for Moulin Rouge, I to make an exception. Baz Luhrmann, erred badly in the opening until the end. His Moulin Rouge! Musical is a bit together Pistachio leaving me wondering why I'm bothering to see that this story seems to go in many directions. The Moulin Rouge! movie was very uneven-rope from scene to scene with little thought as to establish connections I love films from Australia and the vision of the world today, but Luhrmann's vision was too inconsistent for my taste. |
I just can not believe that the triumph of style over substance that the current voting Moulin Rouge! represents. The story is predictable and clichés. The dialogue almost unbearable after the first five seconds when one realizes that they are lyrics to most of the "depth". The acting is adequate, the singing and dancing on stage is impressive, but this DivX film Moulin Rouge! is almost unbearable to sit through and has no interest or surprises. Rock reminds me of a splendid Eistedfodd. My vote 6 / 10 (only the main actors and musical numbers). |
I wonder if that line of the Duke "I do not care about your ridiculous dogma" went to Lars Von Triar. Could it be, the movie: Moulin Rouge! is full of knowing the lines "He can make a star and is dallying with the writer!" or "They wore me clothes with the best in Argentina and I went through a famous English writer," There is something Ken Russell in the second period of "Moulin Rouge" All the emphasis, underline and repeated at least three times by the security. Excess seems a rather weak word to describe it, but it works. The film, for the most part, is a delight. Nicole Kidman, charming and spectacular, spectacular. Ewan McGregor, excellent, charismatic and so no one blame me if I confess that he had a crush on him as soon as they broke into "The hills are alive with the sound of music ..." McGregor and Kidman, the DVD film Moulin Rouge! shows, are the closest thing we have had in years for the great stars of yesteryear. They can do whatever they have and brightness. Another detail that should not go wrong, "Moulin Rouge" opened the door for new music and that's always a good thing, but we are bound to be bombarded by some terrible things. I say no matter how long it allows glorious film: Moulin Rouge! talent of the caliber of Kidman and McGregor to give us even have the pleasure of a bag of wind, such as "Moulin Rouge" |
Recipe for success: Combine equal parts of "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen," Minnelli "The Pirate", "La Boheme", and director Baz Luhrman previous hit "Romeo and Juliet." Add a bunch of great (and not so great earlier), mostly love songs of the rock era and sing like a grand opera and Broadway Andrew Lloyd Webber ballads. Get the edge of two great stars like Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman for the beautiful, doomed lovers on the tracks and a pair of high-flying theatrical character formed actors (Jim Broadbent and John Leguizamo) in the papers. Make the nearly fatal mistake of hiring a third type of clown to villain who looks like a third kind of comic David Spade with a cheesy mustache. Soak with fabulous art direction, gorgeous costumes, dazzling (not to mention sometimes dizzying) camera work and editing and voila: "Moulin Rouge!" |
I'm having difficulty reaching ten lines of text for this pump. I prefer to have summed it up in one (see last two sentences of this commentary). The only memorable this farce is likely to become a cliché of bad taste. Recipes for the Moulin Rouge: Come with an empty story idea. Make it a "musical" with a lot of loans SAPPY irrelevant, historically inappropriate pop songs and wedging in the "plot". Recruit a few currently popular Moulin Rouge! Musical film actors - the ability to sing is not important. Add garish gobs of production, Moulin Rouge! Musical movie effects and computer graphics. Add a lot of sugar and pour (which may require a spoon to get the sticky mess from the can). Absolute tripe! Anyone who enjoyed this Moulin Rouge! film is a bonehead. |
I could not believe two hours can be so long. I was waiting and hoping to end the film. Of the first ten minutes were down and kept going down. Everything but the kitchen sink - the nature of male Camille. Nothing original in any place. Jim Broadbent is horribly miscast and the whole film: Moulin Rouge! seemed a bad acid trip in 60 years. No wonder that the music has died. |
This DVD movie Moulin Rouge! is excellent. The first time I saw him at my girlfriend and I liked it a lot. However, one thing became very clear to me. This story is based on Alexandre Dumas's play "The Lady of the Camellias" or later Verdi opera "La Traviata." Despite the apparent severity of the story is a wonderful representation of the work, I found no mention of inspiration in it, or even its author in the credits. Perhaps someone can clue me in. I'm missing something, or because the producers here do not recognize that Dumas deserves credit? If anyone asks how I know this is through study of this Verdi opera, La traviata. At the Moulin Rouge, I have even found similarities between the lines in the script writing and Francesco Maria Piave's libretto for Verdi's opera. Intrigued, I purchased a copy of The Lady of the Camellias and read the text, and saw the Moulin Rouge. There were many similarities there is incredible! See how the producers of the Moulin Rouge! Musical film (which I am eternally indebted to a wonderful film, and even more wonderful memories) did not give credit to Dumas, Piave, Verdi, or even the character on which Dumas wrote his book (based on real life!) Alphonsine Plessis, or Marie Duplessis, should certainly bear in mind that as wonderful as the DVD film Moulin Rouge! is something of a fraud. Well, perhaps this is a bit serious, but at least I think we should make something, somewhere, saying they had neglected to give credit to Piave or Dumas, who were watching the lines of both! Just a thought. |
The notes on the back of the DVD are very clear: one says something like "there's never a movie: Moulin Rouge! like this," and it is very true. I have no idea what I expected at this show, but it was not a cross between a musical and an opera, with flights between fantasy and live scenes of animation, a lot of screaming and running, and general chaos. There was a bit of pop music (oldies in 2006) was not written when Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was alive, and appeared as a cheap way to import music in the show. The original music was interesting, and Ewan Mc Gregor's nice and apparently able to sing! I will look for other of his films. |
