On a warm September evening, college professor Ethan Learner, his wife Grace, and their daughter Emma are attending a recital. Their 10-year-old son Josh is playing cello — beautifully, as usual. His younger sister looks up to him, and his parents are proud of their son. On the way home, they all stop at a gas station on Reservation Road. There, in one terrible instant, he is taken from them forever. On a warm September evening, law associate Dwight Arno and his 11-year-old son Lucas are attending a baseball game. Their favorite team, the Red Sox, is playing - and, hopefully, heading for the World Series. Dwight cherishes his time spent with Lucas. Driving his son back to his ex-wife, Lucas' mother Ruth Wheldon, Dwight heads towards his fateful encounter at Reservation Road. The accident happens so fast that Lucas is all but unaware, while Ethan — the only witness — is all too aware, as a panicked Dwight speeds away. The police are called, and an investigation begins. Haunted by the tragedy, both fathers react in unexpected ways, as do Grace and Emma. As a reckoning looms, the two fathers are forced to make the hardest choices of their lives.

This Reservation Road movie is about a grieving family dealing with the loss of her son after a lightning accident. The plot is very strong, which shows the driver of the guilt and shame, the relentless pursuit of the father trying to find the driver, and a grieving mother who wants to pass. The powerful are remarkably touching performances, especially Joaquin Phoenix and Jennifer Connelly. The added twist in the complicated relationship between Dwight and Ethan engagingly presented, adding more tension to the melancholy and the entire film. "Reservation Road" is a surprising gem. It's almost frightening that a split second decision can have a profound impact on the self and others. be prepared to be touched and saddened by "Reservation Road."
I knew nothing of the plot when I rented this movie. With Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Connelly starring in it, I thought it would be at least good, and it was. Scenes from the start, creating a palpable tension, just know something terrible will happen, despite two trips normal family is the subject matter. Since then, the coils of the plot in an arc fraught with too many coincidences, but management was able to pull it wants without me groan. There are some emotional scenes that have played a little better to have been more subtle. The police officer and Mark Ruffalo are impeccable. The children were pending. I'm not sure if it was the character of Joaquin, script, direction or what, but I do not riveted as he often does, perhaps a little over-acted. Jennifer delivered a couple of lines that do not ring true - could have been an editing problem. The obsession of wrath / justice seems a bit premature. It would have been better to see a progression. Despite my criticism, I found sufficient mastery and depth of character and to recommend a 7. I found myself worrying that the order to ruin the film, but was flawless and convincing.
