| I saw "Red Dawn" in the first place and would be my preference, but that said, this is an excellent film. It is true that I am a fool for this DVD movie Uncommon Valor and I also have the utmost respect for our military. Although this Uncommon Valor War was fictional, this kind of thing happened several times, some stories have been told more often than others etc. The idea is plausible. Young boys barely out of high school to join the army and sent to Vietnam only to get caught and then sent off to prison camps. This could not have been cast, possibly better. The late and great Robert Stack (RIP) and Gene Hackman are especially suited to their functions. Randall "Tex" Cobb is fun to watch all the time that is in the camera and (spoiler alert) is particularly sad when it dies. The training scenes were very well designed and executed. The model prison camp in Texas and wakes up in the morning rituals that Gene Hackman made through them are fun to watch. The fight scene between Patrick Swayze and Tex Cobb is definitely worth a few laughs. Two thumbs up, it is worth seeing a couple of times. |
| Other than a little rough edit / director of this DivX Movie Uncommon Valor is my favorite of all time ....... the only DVD film Uncommon Valor I have drowned in the one I've owned ....... I think Gene Hackman is great, but Reb Brown and Randall "Tex" Cobb really stood out for me in this film. I think the biggest problem was that it was too short and not quite live up to its potential ........ I wanted to last longer! |
| UNCOMMON VALOR is perhaps the most credible of the "return to Vietnam to rescue prisoners of war" movies. The DVD movie Uncommon Valor attempts to ceters in COL.RHODES played by Gene Hackman to find her son missing in action in Vietnam. It meets a small group of Vietnam veterans + a recent military veteran returning to Vietnam via Thailand. Along the way the CIA and Thai police to confiscate their weapons are acquired new weapons ... WW2 vintage. The team will secure the area and hijinks. This is a thin DivX film Uncommon Valor of war and a great action adventure film. Of note are Gene Hackman, TIM THOMERSON and Fred Ward. These three actors give fine performances as the Vietnam vets who face war and their return. In fact, everyone in this Uncommon Valor movie is good. This Uncommon Valor film deviates from the true heroic Rambo and tells a story more human. MACGREGOR og character is symbolic of someone like H. Ross Perot. This Uncommon Valor film is worth seeing and has excellent production values and is well directed. Of note is the fact that Wings Hauser, had a role in the production of this film. |
| This DVD film Uncommon Valor is not the "real Vietnam" experience. For that, see only 2 movies: Apocalypse Now and Hamburger Hill. All others are baloney or worse. (OK, now I am in the 2008 edition of this Fuimos Soldados Vietnam as another great movie. I was completely captivated and took me back, like Apocalypse Now. When it ended, I could not move from my seat until after cleaning crew had ended.) Uncommon Valor, however, remains a great Uncommon Valor War film in Vietnam for all to see. It's like hell uneven, so you have to be flexible. I suggest you have fun with the goofball things, assess the anti-tying things, ignore the requirement to link things. Watch closely as each enlisted Vietnam veteran and presented, and learn. Then, enjoy what the characters and the actors who bring them to life. (I loved most.) I was an Infantryman in Vietnam. This Uncommon Valor film is the only DivX film Uncommon Valor in Vietnam, the only one that ever brought tears to my eyes. I was surprised by the strength of its completion. It is overwhelming to me. When it comes right down to it, take this Uncommon Valor film seriously. |
