| 13 Moons rented because I love Steve Buscemi. This is an amazing film, full of twists and turns, humor, and reality. It is a moving 13 Moons Comedy without SAPPY. Its just one of those must go, I think. The basic premise is that a child needs a new kidney. A cousin of his passes to be in the hospital, but said it is a holy cousin drunk dude who escapes and tries to take one last night of chaos. Foreigners involved in the exercise, including a clown who has lost his humor, a priest who has lost his god, a stripper, a rapper, a mother who is not a dwarf, and others. The picture is very different, as the kind of beauty of America. bottom line, this movie: 13 Moons gave me hope. |
| Thanks to the gods that the DivX film 13 Moons was still like this - personal, unique, expressive visions never see in a boutique division of dreams! Doing his best work from the very funny "in the soup," Alexandre Rockwell once again works with a large cast of the fine, but often under-used actors to tell the intertwined stories of niftily an unlikely set of characters that all paths cross because of a marital spat and tired of a life bailbondsman obtain waifish charged with her son - who is in desperate need of a kidney transplant. Problem is, it seems the only good game sloshing about in the innards of bedrugged, drunks, Wacker-out Peter Stormare (in a Santa costume, continuing ongoing Rockwell leitmotif in several films). The film, beautifully shot in high definition video by estimable Phil Parmet, with an insinuating score, takes place all in one night, a long, but after the persecution befuddled rebel reluctant donor kidney. Among a group of entertainment as players as you're likely to find, Daryl Mitchell, Rose Rollins, Peter Dinklage and are particularly sharp and funny. Keep an ear peeled for Rollins perfect pitch horribly bad rap! Lots of incidental pleasures along the way, and typical of the work Rockwellian an uplifting moment at the end - literally and figuratively. Overall, a shaggy delight. |
| Writers Alexandre Rockwell and Brandon Cole managed to do the impossible: combine misfits ten characters in a story that gives each person in good faith and characterization arc dimension. The combination of Steve Buscemi and Peter Dinklage as a clown out of work and his faithful companion is priceless. Peter Stormare uses its entire arsenal to act drunk to their home life and Sam Rockwell is great in its smaller entrepreneurs as a strip club bartender. Daryl Mitchell and newcomer Rose Rollins nearly steal the show as P Diddy-esque tone deaf record mogul and his girlfriend, respectively, and Karyn Parsons is far from Bel Air as the stripper who is the object of affection for Steve Buscemi. Jennifer Beals is impressive and effective as ever Buscemi as the wronged woman. Austin Wolfe is touching and credible as the child who takes all and David Proval guy does a great turn as the absent parent. After a night of pranks unprecedented in the end, the message is simple as delivered by Elizabeth Bracco as the mother of the child. Having been informed that this group of strangers has risked his life to help her son, she asked innocently: "Why do they want to help Timmy? Not even know him." And therein lies the question in a more compassionate none we would have to ask. |
