| Intelligent people - Smart people had a 46% on Rotten Tomatoes, but it is much better than that. Lawrence Wetherhold (Dennie Quaid) is a "holy you" professor widower who, unfortunately, meet once in a while. He is the type of fund that invests in its subject but can not make it accessible to students or allow any time to discuss it. He is essentially a brilliant idiot. Meet a doctor at a hospital after a head injury and begins to reassess his life and happiness. A dead beat brother (Thomas Haden Church, who steals every scene in which he), a daughter (Ellen Page) is a young Ann Coulter in manufacturing, and a son (Ashton Holmes) whom he never talks. This DivX Movie Smart People is very funny! Page and Church were undoubtedly the stand-out, but I appreciate Dennis Quaid and Sarah Jessica Parker, two players who almost never liked me. This is a young family rom-com problems (pregnancy, the "other woman" thing), but the film: Smart People never feels too sentimental or cliche. It is gratifying to see the character of Quaid deserves socks get to the stomach once in a while, but is it anyway at the end. Humor is a little on the cold bite, which goes well with my tastes, some may not. Intelligent people is welcome overstays a bit near the end, but a good Smart People Romance in general. B. |
| This movie: Smart People was made before "Juno", but remained on the shelf. It is clear why now --- but not very good. Ellen Page was nominated for an Oscar, and his incredible performance in "Juno" has to make a study of some thinking. "Aha!" probably thought, "Here's a way to cash in his new fame, and downloading this turkey." The study peeps were in fact very smart people. The film, however, is rather dull and depressed. It was interesting to hear the page cheerful "smart alec" voice of a character played by "Juno". Indicates that much of what we showed in "Juno" was she, not a mere dialogue or address. Unfortunately, the characters of "intelligent people", especially Dennis Quaid, dim-bulbs were scruffy and not very pleasant, not admiration, and watchable. In short, this new and clunker had in store for a reason. It is not pure garbage, but it is mighty close. Their release is pure commercial opportunism. Avoid if you can! |
| I really loved People.It Smart was very entertaining to watch, and I especially loved seeing Sarah Jessica Parker and Ellen Page and Dennis Quaid, as they are FABULOUS all actors, and this new movie: Smart People would be good if there were people who playing like this roles.Well head, I must say that sometimes I am bored, and I was thinking of shutting down before the end, as it only felt like the same scene was happening over and over again, but this movie: Smart People was very funny and ironic humor was what made it worth it, while others in addition to the great history that it has an incredible history, and the wonderful cast.Overall acting, this is a great DVD movie Smart People indeed and is definitely worth seeing if you're interested in any little to do. |
| Definitely enjoyed this movie, and I suspect when I saw that the producers of "sidebar" that this Smart People movie too. Dennis Quaid played other characters in this Smart People film that would normally see him play. He did a great job in this role as a very anal inapproachable widowed teacher. His daughter, who seems to be following in the footsteps of dad (Ellen Page) did a fantastic job as well. Rounding out the dysfunctional family is the estranged brother adopted: Thomas Haden Church. I grew up in the wings, which makes it no surprise that my favorite character in the film. He represents the antithesis of this father / daughter combo, and completely shook his very private and inaccessible small world. In short, this Smart People Romance gave me 8 stars, not 10. The reasoning is that the Thomas Haden Church seems to react in a way completely different from what might be expected, after half of the DivX Movie Smart People has passed. That is difficult to interpret a phrase, I realize. What am I trying to say is that his character becomes a direction that does not seem to follow the example of what you learned from him in the first half of the film. Obviously there is an event that triggers the change, but do not sit well with me. Besides, I do not really see the need for the brother character, do not add much to the DivX film Smart People at all ... anyway, it's worth spending to see the film. |
| I would recommend this DVD movie Smart People to my colleagues, or perhaps students as well. Being a faculty member of the university, I did enjoy seeing this film. The interpretation of academic life is exactly what you expect from an insider's point of view, except that I do not have to crush a student yet. Unfortunately, the end is nothing more than Hollywood. The abrupt change of character Dr. Wetherhold seems kind of unbelievable. I just want to be a bit smarter. Due to the final, gave me a 9 out of 10. Remember,'m not a teacher who gives an easy A. |
