If there is any justice in the world of film, Tommy Lee Jones must take home the Best Actor Oscar for his work in this film, clearly his best performance ever. Combined with No Country for Old Men, Tommy Lee Jones has had an incredible year, and appears to be finally hitting a step back after years of dreck U.S. as Marshals and a man of the house. Charlize Theron is also in fine form once again a challenge, less glamorous role and pulling him with impressive dedication. Even Paul Haggis, who has always been more appreciated tremendously as a writer and director, does a decent job of what the heart and believability to the story. If the DVD movie In the Valley of Elah has a big problem is the script, which is often clunky and obvious. However, it appears increasingly better (in general) and its distribution rises above the material provided that the script thuds.
Make Paul "In the Valley of Elah" follows closely and carefully all the long held and well-stated standards of any good murder mystery. For anyone who really enjoys this kind will not be disappointed. That said I believe that the results also strengthen this story. Tommy Lee Jones, in the hands of a weak performance yet internally complex as I've ever seen done before. It is difficult, and yet have the necessary sensitivity to handle the character along to where it needs to go. Susan Sarandon gives a strong performance as the mother of a missing soldier. She is placed in the position of an actress of having to create a paper from a small hand and pulled out by playing what must be very sincere emotions. Ms. Theron is good and takes her hand. She is, again, is not afraid to look bad in order to fulfill a function. This is a good performance ... that's all. I am not writing about home mom who, despite. The rest of the cast is very strong and gives me great hope for the future of cinema in this country. The cast works well together and make a story. Part of this DVD film In the Valley of Elah star and is the center piece is Paul Hagas script. He creates characters and situations in a direct and quick. The story is consistent and flows as well as I have mentioned and following the direction that any good murder mystery should. It also makes us aware of the growing struggles of our soldiers and what is happening as a result of this war in Iraq. Please see this movie: In the Valley of Elah and see for what it is ... a good mystery with great performances.
