| I saw this for almost fifteen years and I still have a very clear mental images of some of the scenes. The chef at the kitchen table, planning their menu: Impressive! Put it in a frame, hanging on the wall. In the restaurant scene, you feel as if you were there at the table as the camera pans, seamlessly, from one person to another. Our heroes locked in a truck full of rotting meat: horrible, disgusting, fine. It is a classic rite of purification and is literally rotten. Greenaway is a genius. My only criticism is a minor. There is a scene of frontal nudity of a woman and her lover, which is clearly more "relaxed" that should have been at that time. I am a little disappointed in Greenaway for the failure to give "attention", as he was in real life. But then, I suppose it would have been accused of making porn. Whatever. This Cook the Thief His Wife & Her Lover, The film is not for everyone. My wife did not see it. I am sure she would have hated if it had. For the rest, I can not really say I liked it, but I think it's a masterpiece. But I am happy to have seen. I will see again probably, but not until you can see it in high definition television. Plain old DVD can not do it justice. An amazing movie. |

| There is this elegant luxury restaurant called Le Dutch where the owner is brutal, each night with his band of thugs and his trophy wife (Helen Mirren). Now, Georgina (Mirren) is not exactly happy with the way her husband and here is fascinated by a book reading pattern that has a romance with her right there in the restaurant under the nose of her husband ... the lady in the room, storage areas, where one can escape quickly. It seems that when the husband does not know, however, is not very happy with everything and the lover meets an untimely demise. And there is even a sort of finishing touch. Now, the basic story sounds more or less familiar, but how the strip was not. The brutal terrorizing restaurant staff and customers, and staff of a member is unhappy about being smeared with feces. A child was also badly wounded, and a client that is somehow a friend of one of his thugs ends with a fork stuck in his face. And that is not even the worst of it. And I even started working on cleaning in the kitchen. One of the chefs is constantly Fabio shirt but with a large pot belly hanging over his waist. This is a very strange film, and the atmosphere, and also a little hard to see. Sometimes even the boundaries of pornography, I guess. NC-17 is, after all. This is not for the faint of heart, but it has some truth to the viewer as if in May have a sense of adventure.
