| Nearly all are films about other films. Almost all forms of life are acts of films, almost all of the acts are stereotypes. The Wayons simply close the loop: the movies where the facts are the stereotypes of stereotypes. They really know what they are doing, disguised as social commentary. However, you get enough in the first five minutes. Check how many jokes about the performance, about one in three. And then see what they did with "Scary Movies", which is in a circle loop. I acknowledge that I am a fan. They seem to be the only ones who can do what Zucker used to serve what is called parody. I think it's because they start knowing that the goal is not pieces of film, but the bits that are used in the invention of the stories of who we are. Ted's Evaluation - 3 of 3: Worth seeing. |
| Shawn and Marlon Wayans, along with director Paris Barclay, have created a humorous satire of the recent spate of films dealing with African-life in the ghettos of inner cities of America. "Boyz in the Hood" and "threatens the society II" are among the films in which the Wayans brothers make fun. "Do not be a threat ..." follows the story of Ashtray (Shawn Wayans) as wades through a series of episodes in the Barclay "hood." He lives with his father, who is "just a couple of years older than him." Among the lessons his father taught him: "No smoking my shit, my shit do not drink, and if you bring any of them in hospital, make sure you fuck them first", and (drinking and driving) that shit is fun, man! "Stereotype or not politically correct, is too sacred boundary of the Wayans brothers to make fun at. Some of the jokes involved, some miss, and the fun certainly will increase in those who have seen the films that "not a threat ..." often jests. Not very important culturally fare, but a good laugh, though. |
