That evening he quits his marriage and walks the streets of New York, passing from a classy bar to a gentleman's club, then to a high-class bordello, a mugging, a pawnshop, and a diner where someone does listen. He shares his insights with her and later with others. Violence, disappointment, and musings entwine as Edmond loses his moorings while believing he's found them. Where does he belong?

It is a great movie. So exciting! Usually cruel to say the truth. It gets you in, tie his arms and legs, and then hit you hard. There are good black humor served cooked rare talks. Important little details and the statement of looserness within the Edmond Thriller is amazing. But, of course, the casting has a lot to do with it. The general flow of events and conversations are about life, its dynamics, relationships and social trends. But what is really the film: Edmond is, what lies at the end. Definitely worth seeing. But not with kids around, not when you are in a mood nor negative. :)
Who says Stuart Gordon is just a horror Edmond Thriller director? He is a true filmmaker and here, in collaboration with David Mamet's script (adapted from his book) that show up. William H. Macy again shows how good is the title character, a guy who blows a fuse and look for a place in the world wandering the city streets at night. Gordon, Macy and Mamet (along with the entire cast of famous actors) tell the story in just 76 min. full of great moments of reflection and monologues. This is truly a DVD movie Edmond that leaves the viewer thinking about his own life and compliance. "Edmond" and this continues what he says is so crazy but consistent in its own terms that makes you wonder about a lot of things. You will not believe all the players who are here, no more than one of each scene, especially Julia Stiles, a talented actress with a voice soft and deep composition.
Stuart Gordon was a shrewd choice to direct David Mamet twenty years on stage, because what we are dealing with here is pure fear and dread thick. In other words - of horror. William H. Macy's "Edmond," a man who finds that his life has been a terrible waste and it's time you did something about it. What it does is extreme, funny, bloody, very violent, and honest. Some scenes of this small number left the audience stunned. The language is deliberately provocative and salted and the dialog box, typical of Mamet, is the point, and beautifully rendered by a strong cast. There are elements of "Taxi Driver", "God Lonely Man," "I Stand Alone" and Scorsese's "After Hours". Although he wrote two decades ago, the movie: Edmond is more important today than it was then, and in a city like Los Angeles, where it caught it and was shot, has a dreadful resonance here because although the population is about fourteen million, is one of the loneliest, most places on Earth offline. Stuart Gordon is certainly more powerful horror film: Edmond and even a bold, cold slice of reality (something like that hit in the face with a bloody fist) Highly recommended.
Interesting, if not entirely captivating slice o 'night and the consequences of an Edmond Burke, a man who is driven to the edge, and after all the areas, following his decision to basically walk around because of the feeling unfulfilled in life. From this long-held concern premise, Mamet crafts smarter, more realistic version of the last decade of controversial but surely Falling Down, and in turn some of the best years of social liberation. But problems arise when the actions and slowing the speed of talk, where the monologues and dialogues of return appear to be coming from the mouth of the writer rather than the characters. All this goes to the south in the second half, when Macy's sermonizing kills some of the script for authenticity and integrity, due to the long, auto fair, and ultimately distracting and unrelated to the nature of the lines. For a Edmond movie that tackles a gritty New York night with style and ease, with an estimate and as bright as screenwriter David Mamet is a shame to see some of the later scenes become a pulpit for Mr. Mamet to talk rather than through more subtle suggestion, but is still far from making this DVD film Edmond avoidable. With some of William H Macy's most powerful work, Edmond is still a triumph of a character based on the thriller, leaving me satisfied with its conclusion.
