Michael Jennings is a reverse engineer and what he does is technical jobs for certain companies and as soon as he is done, his memory of the work he has done is wiped out. Now the longest he has been contracted is 2 months. But now billionaire, James Rethrick offers him a job that would last 2 years, maybe 3, and he promises that he will probably earn 8 figures. Michael agrees. Before beginning he turns in all of his personal effects. And when the job is done, his memory is erased and he learns he made over 90 million dollars over the three years. When he goes to claim it and his personal effects, he discovers that prior to the erasure of his memory he waived his rights to the money he earned and that the items that were given to him were not the ones he gave when he began. Later he is arrested by the FBI who say that he committed some act of treason and murder. It's while he is in custody that he escapes using some the items that he was given. He later meets with a friend who gives him some information that helps him understand what is going on. And at the same time Rethrick for some reason wants him so he is being pursued by Rethrick's people.

This is a fun movie, it could have been more profound. But as it is fun to see how the different elements in Jennings' Master Plan unpredictably. I read the story of Philip K. Dick, and there are points where the story has changed, and the machine works differently here, but the basic concept remains intact. And the question remains: Even if you can see the future, do you really think we would be able to change for the better? Affleck does not really surprise anyone here, but not to the detriment of the story. Uma is very good, and Eckhart is deliciously exaggerated towards the end. This is a man who has received a sample of the power they could have simply got rid of the obstacles, and he is determined to achieve that power. Even if one of the obstacles is his good friend Jennings. There are some scientific improbabilities here along with some basic errors, but the engine is the philosophical concept, not scientific. And the pace is usually fast enough that you can relax and watch the action sequences, if that's all that matters.

Right about now, I wish I had a machine to erase the memory of this movie. I've seen in my 13 years of age who had an easy time following the plot, as it was spoon fed. I thought the choice of main character Afleck as a strange choice. He had no chemistry on screen with Uma Thurman, who sounded as if he were reading their lines off search cards. I see John Woo in parallel with North by Northwest, but did not come close to matching the intrigue of Hitchcock. Woo brands as bulldozers come. The Paycheck movie is visually brilliant, but hardly enough to keep viewers interested. Hunting scenes are laughable, like many other distant scenery. If we, the audience the Paycheck Sci-Fi movie is supposed to suspend belief while watching a movie, it was almost impossible for two hours this assault on the imagination. If you have a child in science fiction, and nothing else in the video store, then it would be worthwhile. But if "A Knight's Tale" is available, and get enjoyment.

My wife and I looked at each other as the credits rolled, and said "Is that the stupidest thing you've seen lately?" and further agreed that there was no chemistry ... large holes in the plot. Although science fiction is that it must make sense in the context of the film, it does not. Warning: spoilers follow. Many plot holes: Why the repair of the machine? Why fly a pigeon? How to change the future at the gateway? If Ben could change your future, how come he could not prevent the next war (other than by destroying the machine)? If the box 90 mm lottery, the FBI did not find them? Ugh. Skip it. Bob Smith & Evelyn

Once again the teacher has shown that moving from Hong Kong to the old U.S. A was well worthwhile. This is much better than the other Woo films that people go about, as "the murderer", "Hard Boiled" or "bullet in the head," mainly because I think it is in English, so they do not have to read the movie: Paycheck can be solved again and see Ben Affleck get all confused about everything, as everything explodes around him. To call this Paycheck movie "the best Paycheck Sci-Fi to come out of America this year," would be underselling it. I't vital in this film, because the explosions are much better when they are big, strong and sound as well. I'd give it 11 out of 10, if I could. However, since I can not just have to give 10.
