| I confess that "King Ralph" is one of my favorite movies. Yes, the basic concept of the plot of the film: King Ralph has been done in many stories, both written and filmed, but the superb acting together with the not-so-subtle British Royalty boards in pushing the plot right over the top. Never mind that John Goodman is brilliant (as usual), but the good and not very serious role of Peter O'Toole adds a much needed anchor for Mr. Goodman, the long-awaited antics. The locations of the movie: King Ralph footage as well as provide a beautiful backdrop for the production, heavily steeped in tradition and British heritage. Two thumbs up for this lively comedy that dares to delve into some of the most serious problems of accountability and the actual pressure. Highly recommended for fun entertainment, I give "King Ralph" a 9 out of 10. |
| There is a photo and then say soon enough, because the cheese they are looking for the next heir to the British throne. They look and look, but all are fat is a great Las Vegas lounge singer named Ralph. That almost never happen in real life but very funny. Ralph Burps and drink beer and do not fit into the British royalty. Many people probably wish that this would happen to them. It is curious because of all people, Ralph is the only one. It is fat and careless, but does not change, especially when it is oscillating at the piano and talk about the woman with deep voice. Yikes! There are a lot of good laughs, but it is not perfect. It's good to see if you're just flipping through the channels one night and nothing else is on. |
| I can not stop laughing every time I see this film, but I know that just the idea of something like this happens is about 100 people sit down with calculators and start crunching the numbers on the possibility that something like this happens. John Goodman plays a performer of his fate, as it goes from distant family to the throne of England in the immediate family on the throne. The only problem is that he did not have the refinement and leaves much to be desired in the department of courtesy. If one plus one equals two, then this combination is equal to a comedy that can not be matched ... at any level. I'm not saying this is the best comedy of all time, but what I am saying is that this film, if the rent is a nice quiet evening not to offend many people and leaves the main player on the basis of a family it: a place where strangers are supposed to appear. Everyone remembers him as Dan Connor, but how many of you reading this remember, was the head football coach in Revenge of the Nerds? Goodman was an excellent choice for this part because of his range as an actor and their chemistry on screen with Camille Coduri was invaluable, too, as I felt it represented the kind of relationship we desire. So, hats off (or crowns, if you like) to David S Ward for this movie. I have just come here to this comment, and my next stop is to see what else this director has done. 7 out of 10 stars. |
| I do not know what the criticism of this DVD film King Ralph is expected. It's a predictable King Ralph Comedy movie with a familiar theme, as others have mentioned, but I do not know what people find so disappointing. If you can handle the first 5-10 minutes of silliness, you can enjoy the rest of the film. If you are looking for an innovative masterpiece of cinema ... Well, first, you may want to stay away from movies John Goodman. ;-) This film: King Ralph is good fun for the whole family has some funny lines and a pleasant interaction, and conflict / romance plot, completely predictable, while the rest of the film, does the job that's supposed to do. The filling is bad, the good news is the girl, the hero is redeemed, etc. Those are not spoilers, because anyone who looks at films enough to be reading this site can see it all coming in the second break. However, I was not disappointed by that, because unlike others, I do not think a DVD movie King Ralph called "King Ralph" was going to reach new peaks of comedy genius. I gave him a 6 / 10. Worth watching for a few smiles and classic theme of vibration. Also, I do not think that the British were lost big in it ... I think decent corny fun, and having O'Toole et al be part of it was a big part of it. They could have chosen a better tone "Good GOLLY Miss Molly" by Ralph King, despite the great performance. :-) |
| When the entire British royal family is wiped out in a "terrible" accident, the American Bar animator Ralph Jones (excellent: John Goodman, is that for most of the boring parts of the plot) becomes the new King of England. After some adjustment problems with their new work (clothes, manners etc) falls for a girl who meets a local club band. Problems arise when it comes to his secretary with him to marry the princess to seal a business in Finland for a few English firms. Overall, a good movie: King Ralph with some great lines, but also some boring parts. |
| This King Ralph Comedy film is insanely funny. The plot is highly unlikely, but if nothing else that makes it fun. The sets were great, the actors are fine (and Peter O'Toole as Lord Willingham was excellent). Some of the scenes, even managing to show the bad as King Ralph is acting like a king. end of spoilers ahead ... The end of (spoilers!) Mr. Ralph Willingham abdicating and appoint as his successor (which makes him a duke) was particularly funny scene that alludes to one of his earlier mistakes. |
| It is not stupid, it's charming. A bit outdated and corny, yes, but entertaining and fun and worth it! I just saw this for the second time in cable TV and liked it so much like the first time! Goodman made bold and exquisite as the good-hearted buffoon and snobbishness that overcomes the drudgery of a group of bluebloods good for their own bodily functions. |
